Lines are the painting’s first breath. At this stage, Christine focuses on the direction and layering of the petals, allowing the peony’s form to emerge gently through space and shading.

Color begins to settle, revealing the structure of each petal. Through soft washes, Christine builds the weight and emotion of the flower, allowing the peony to grow through its developing hues.

Details bloom here. The sheen of the petals, the depth of the leaves, and the strength of the stems awaken through the final strokes. Christine’s peony becomes whole, breathing softly within the composition.
